JOYE VANTRIMMELL
I began playing cello when I was 5 years old and my family lived in Sioux City, IA. After that time, my family relocated to Independence, MO, where I studied cello, piano and voice at the Music/Arts Institute for 8 years.
While in Independence, I also studied under the cello professor at UMKC Conservatory, Carter Enyeart. I took on my first cello student at the age of 10, and continued teaching throughout junior high and high school. My family then relocated to Grand Rapids, MI, where I studied with cello professor Anthony Elliot at the University of Michigan. Following high school, I went on to major in cello performance, attending Western Michigan University and University of Nebraska- Omaha.
Throughout my musical career, I have had the opportunity to perform in large and small ensembles of both the classical and contemporary genres. I have competed in national chamber music competitions, played masterclasses for renowned cellists, including Yo-Yo Ma, served as the principal cellist in various orchestras, and recorded for different local and national bands.
I really enjoy playing for weddings and musicals, and as part of my band, Midwest Dilemma. Please reach out if you’re interested in private cello lessons! I’d love to talk with you more about your goals to see how I can help. ENROLL right here on my profile page and I will contact you to get you on my schedule!
