Tracking Progress and Celebrating Achievements: Nurturing Young Artists at 402 Arts Collective
Enrolling your child in an art or music program, such as the 402 Lesson Studio, is an exciting journey that opens doors to creativity, self-expression, and personal growth. As parents, you play a crucial role in supporting and encouraging your child along this artistic path. One powerful way to enhance their experience and motivation is by actively tracking their progress and celebrating their accomplishments. In this article, we delve into the significance of monitoring growth and commemorating milestones in your child's artistic pursuits.
Arts Education teaches important life skills
I remember the terror I experienced in my first 4th grade concert. I had never been stared at by such a large group of people before! I was totally exposed; I didn’t have my mom to hide behind. But I made it through! A dozen of us nervously played “Row Row Row your boat” on our recorders, and we received reassuring applause when we made it to the end. Fast forward through the next 10 years of playing in different bands, and I’d become accustomed to being in front of an audience, and had grown to actually enjoy the challenges which came with doing so. I don’t think I would have ever gained the level of personal confidence those experiences gave me, had I not been exposed to the type of challenges they presented.
Music Is Better When It’s Made... Together
Many of us will go our entire lives without being able to feel the feeling that I wish I could convey to you, the reader. The feeling of grabbing your gear, throwing it in your car, and making the trip to a local hole-in-the-wall where noise can be made without the police being called. After all the cables are plugged in and gear set up, you find yourself surrounded by a group of individuals whom you consider your friends. You view them as considerably better than you are at the specific forms of art and expression which they are responsible for in this group - that is why they are there. Each person is considered a “band member”.
6 WAYS TO SPOT AN ARTIST IN YOUR HOUSE
I want to write a quick article today to talk with you about spotting the talent in your child. All of you parents out there will know why I’m writing this, but those of you who might not have any children may be confused. I have had the privilege of raising three boys with my wife, Lindsay. That certainly doesn’t make me a clinical expert, nor even someone who is qualified to give out advice. However… this is the internet, and everyone is an expert on all subject matters. Of course, I’m joking with you about that; but I do think I have some valuable perspectives to share because of my 10+ years of experience with the 402 Arts Collective, since the time of its launch. Over the years, many parents have asked me questions pertaining to age, instruments, education methods and more in regards to art and music education for their children. The one question, however, that I find the most interesting is the one in the title of this article: “How can I tell if my student is an actual artist?”
