MICHELLE SEALOCK

I’ve had a passion for the piano ever since my grandmother sat me down in front of her Lowrey organ when I was a kid. It was so much fun playing around with all of the different sounds! I eventually took some lessons and realized I could play songs by ear. I would sit with my little electric keyboard and boombox (yes, I’m a child of the 80s!) and try to match the sounds and chord shapes being played.

In high school, my focus was primarily on vocal performance. I performed in various choirs and also with the Nebraska All-State Chorus my senior year. I’ve also performed at Carnegie Hall with Música Sacra, an adult choir for the College of St. Mary’s.

It wasn’t until later in life that I picked up the piano again. I was attending church regularly and was a vocalist on the worship team. The worship leader soon discovered I could play keys and the rest is history. For the past 15 years, I have enjoyed learning more playing techniques as well as MainStage 3, a performance software and sound library that I still use currently at Relevant Community Church.

I have two main goals in teaching. The first goal is to equip you with enough basic piano knowledge to help you play songs quickly and expand your creativity. And my second goal is for you to have fun while you’re learning the first goal! So, whether you just want to check out the piano, learn chord shapes or charts, learn a particular secular or worship song, or maybe delve into MainStage 3, I want to make your learning experience enjoyable.
