402 ROCK ACADEMY
Become the musician you’ve always wanted to be.
The 402 Rock Academy is more than just a band program—it’s an immersive, real-world music experience. Designed for passionate young musicians, this course takes students from one-on-one practice to the full stage, giving them the tools, skills, and confidence to function as true working musicians.
Led by Kevin McClure—a seasoned touring artist, band founder, and dedicated music educator—this year’s academy goes deeper than ever before. Students won’t just learn songs and rehearse. They’ll learn what it really means to be in a band.
Over the course of this program, students will learn:
How to play cohesively as a group
How to care for and transport their gear
How to set up and tear down for rehearsals and gigs
How to book shows and navigate basic logistics
How to communicate, collaborate, and grow as artists
And, of course, how to bring the house down with live performances
Each week, students will rehearse as a full band — developing their musicianship, refining their sound, and preparing for a series of live gigs. Along the way, Kevin will guide them not only musically, but professionally—mentoring them on what it takes to succeed as a working musician.
How to Join – Sign Up for the Ruckus Audition (Free)
To be considered for the band, students must attend The Ruckus, our fun and informal group audition. It’s a jam session-style event where we get to hear you play and see how you vibe with others. This is your chance to show your skills, meet other young musicians, and see what the Rock Academy is all about.
* If we do not reach the necessary enrollment of 4 students, the program may be postponed or canceled. In the event of cancellation, no payment will be collected, or any payments made will be fully refunded.
WHAT TO BRING: Musicians need to bring their own instrument and cords to plug in. Drummers just bring sticks and your stool to the Ruckus. (earplugs are suggested)
COST: Subscription of $250/month - This cost is only applicable to the chosen finalists.
WHEN: Ruckus audition - August 25th, 2025 from 7:30pm-9:00pm
Sessions will start on September 8th, 2025 and go until April 27th, 2025 with a winter break for all of December. Meeting weekly on Mondays from 7:30pm-9:30pm. (In the event of a 5 week month, there will not be a weekly meeting during that fifth week.)
