CHOIR DIRECTOR

Choir Director/ Artist Instructor

I have been singing for as long as I can remember. I spent a decade of my formative years singing around NW Missouri, and across the country, with The New Generation Singers. This wonderful group, along with my school music teachers, set me on the path to making music my livelihood. In 2018 I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music Education from Missouri Western State University and began teaching 6-12 vocal music full-time in the Chillicothe R-II School District. There I directed choirs, prepared singers for the District Music Contest, and music directed two of the high school’s musicals. During this time I also enjoyed singing with Central Standard, and fostering my love for barbershop music!

After teaching for four years, I was accepted into the master's program at UNO, where I am currently studying towards a Master's in Choral Conducting, and working as the Graduate Assistant for their choirs. In 2023 we performed in New York at Carnegie Hall in a festival choir and as a featured ensemble.

I believe that music is a wonderful blend of science and art. We can both express what we cannot always put into words, and learn exact technical approaches to performance. That duality is fascinating to me, and I love helping other singers explore both their musical techniques and knowledge and their artistic expression through singing.

I am a firm believer in a growth mindset; placing progress over performance. Because of this, I focus on helping students develop successful habits and approaches to help them improve their singing technique, musical knowledge, and performance practice at a healthy pace.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy my work as the Director of Music Ensembles at Trinity Lutheran Church, playing D&D with my friends, and spending time with my family and cats.
