JARED SMITH
Welcome to my 402 Lesson Studio page! I would love to help you grow as a flutist. I started playing the flute in fourth grade, which was the catalyst to my lifelong musical career. After hours and hours of practicing, I fell in love with the flute; this led to me teaching myself how to play the piano, and then to record myself, so that I could then play my flute to accompaniment.
During the years 2002-2004, I was 1st chair in the All-City Music Festival, as well as 1st chair in the UNO Durango Honor Band; I also received Superior ratings for solo flute at the Elkhorn Band Olympics. In 2003, I began private instruction under internationally-renowned flautist and solo piccolo artist, Dr. Christine E. Beard. In 2004, I competed in the Assemblies of God Fine Arts Music Festival in Austin, TX, receiving a Superior rating for Instrumental Solo I.
I enrolled in college at UNO to take my musical skills to the next level. I studied advanced music composition, was the principal flutist for the Chamber Orchestra, and participated in the UNO Marching Band and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, as well as UNO's Jazz Combo.
I was featured on the Christmas album "Remember Christ" (2006), as well as the "Are You Ready" praise and worship album (2014), and I like to compose music and write my own songs.
I am the father of four sons and one daughter. I am currently completing my B.A. in Flute Performance.
My passion for music is overshadowed only by my love for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Author of my extraordinary flute tooting.
